Accessibility

We want Understory to be usable by everyone. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA.

What we do

• Readable text sizes and color contrast on a dark theme.
• Labels on icon-only buttons and form fields.
• Pop-up panels can be closed with the Escape key.
• Descriptive text for species photos.

Known limitations

• The interactive map is hard to use with a screen reader. You can use place search instead.
• Some third-party photos may have limited descriptions.

Report a barrier
